Marina Barsky, Computing Science, Vancouver Island University

My main research interests are in the field of string algorithms, and the adaptation of full-text indexes to very large datasets, using both string compression and external memory.

The main motivation comes from the challenge of efficiently organizing and searching an abundance of information encoded in biological sequences.

At Vancouver Island University I undertaken a challenge of designing and teaching undergraduate courses and labs in Computing Science. My goal was to create engaging curriculum based on latest developments in each field of study.
