Add Trace/Watch

The add trace/watch command opens a selection display to select signals and variables to be traced or watched. This command can also be performed by clicking on the magnifying glass icon on the tool bar. The selection display contains a list of signals to the right which have a two sets of check boxes to the left of their names. If the left box is checked, the signal/variable will be displayed in the watch view. If the right box is checked the signal/variable will be displayed in the trace view. The selection display can be closed by clicking on the close button, but you can continue to use SVE and run the simulation without closing the selection display.

The list of signals/variables displayed on the right correspond to only the signals and variables of the currently selected entity. The left of the selection display is a VHDL design hierarchy browser. You can select any entity by clicking on it. Design subtrees may be opened or closed by clicking on the "+'' or "-'' icons.
