CSCI 160 in-class exercise Thursday Sept. 8th

Apologies that I could not be there today. Today's exercise is to answer the two questions below and place your answers under my office door (room 222 in building 315 - follow the u-shaped hallway to the very end). This is not for marks, feel free to discuss the questions with other students in the class.

1. Suppose you have a guest who has never used a computer/laptop or web browser before. Write a note for them with detailed instructions on how to turn the computer on, open a web browser, and "google" something. (Use whichever operating system and web browser you are most comfortable with.)

2. Suppose you work for a company that is thinking of purchasing a new software tool to maintain a staff directory (names, job titles, locations, email addresses, phone numbers). Your boss asks you to "check it out to see if it is any good or not". Describe, in as much detail as possible, what you would do.
